Derby has a very proud history of home-grown talent which has gone on to scale the dizzy heights of musical stardom.
At Piano Lessons Derby I am passionate about encouraging and inspiring students to fulfil their musical potential - whichever direction they choose to pursue. That's why it's always great to be able to relate to ordinary folks from the city, who pursued their dreams, and now live life doing something they enjoy.
FAMOUS MUSICIANS FROM
This talented fellow moved from India to Derby aged three and, I'm proud to say, lives round the corner from Piano Lessons in Derby.
Featuring Derby band member Gary Thatcher on guitar, the track I Will Always Be Your Woman was a worldwide hit in 1997.
Ok so I'm using a bit of artistic licence here, but singer/song-writing superstar James Morrison was actually discovered whilst performing at an open-mic night at Ryan's Bar in Derby.
A firm favourite with Piano Lessons in Derby, Morrison lived in the city for two years and decided to focus on his music after being sacked from his van-driving job. While gigging at Ryan's he met local promoter Kev Andrews who helped him record his demo. After being picked up by Polydor records, the rest, as they say, is history!
